Minnesotans have had a HUGE presence at Best of the U.S. right from the start, with Brian Bich placing 3rd overall and Emily Deppe 8th, back in 2005. Then in 2011 "new-wave" tri-studs Matt Payne and friendly rival Patrick Parish did something no one has done before, going one-two at the National Championship.

Lake Waconia is one of Minnesota's original and most-beloved races. With its community support, incredible volunteer corp and heartfelt race direction, Lake Waconia was a natural selection to serve as Minnesota's Best of the U.S. Qualifier.
