QUALIFYING RULES

Best of the U.S. Competition Qualifying and Championshp Rules are straightforward:

  • Amateurs only
  • Must qualify in their home state (special rules apply for military and student exceptions; contact BOUS for details.)
  • May qualify only at their home state's Designated Qualifier Race
  • The top three resident amateur men and women are the Best of the U.S. state medalists, regardless of their age.
  • All six medalists from each State Qualifier are invited to represent their state at the National Championship.
  • Best of the U.S. management reserves the right to extend National Championship invitations at their discretion, in special situations.
  • Championship Athletes must register via registration options offered by the Host Race Directors.
  • NEW FASTEST STATE TEAM COMPETITION STRUCTURE creates more opportunities to earn National Champion awards. Team Awards will go to the Top Three Teams in three categories:
    FASTEST COED STATE TEAM: Combines only the fastest male & female time from the State Team
    FASTEST MEN'S STATE TEAM: Combines the TWO fastest men's times from the State Team.
    FASTEST WOMEN'S STATE TEAM: Combines the TWO fastest women's times from the State Team
  • USAT Rules & Regulations govern the outcome of the Championship Race.
